WAIT! HOLD IT! DON’T PICK UP THAT PHONE JUST YET!! (THINGS TO CONSIDER BEFORE YOU CANCEL YOUR LESSON)

WAIT! HOLD IT! DON’T PICK UP THAT PHONE JUST YET!! (THINGS TO CONSIDER BEFORE YOU CANCEL YOUR LESSON)

Please do not take what you are about to read as directed toward any one person in particular. Also, we certainly understand cancellations happen. Please just keep in mind that we’re trying to avoid them from becoming habitual. Due to a rash of cancellations in the last couple of months, we thought it might be good for you to hear things from our perspective:

Think about some of the other services that you make appointments for: doctor, dentist, hairstylist, massage therapist, etc. Like Arthur Murray, most of these services have a 24 hour cancellation policy, and they charge a fee for late cancellations. We ask that you give the same respect to your dance instructors as these other appointments. You reserved someone’s time, and they are expecting you and planning a fun & exciting lesson for you!

Now, we get it. Life happens. We TOTALLY get it. In some cases, such as a car accident or a sudden severe injury, there is no-way-no-how that you can make your dance lesson. We want you to know that we truly care for your safety and well being. For all other cases, there are some things that you should consider before cancelling.

Injury, cold, torn muscle, headache

At Arthur Murray, most people are learning how to social dance; therefore not all lessons require intense movement. Your instructors can easily modify a lesson plan to travel less, spin less, even to do a chair lesson to work on arm use. And sometimes, coming to dance is better medicine than sitting around nursing a strained muscle or head cold. If you call to let us know what the ailment is beforehand, we can certainly tailor the lesson plan.

1 of you can’t make it

If you take lessons as a couple, and one of you cannot attend (stuck at work, business trip, traffic, etc), this is a great opportunity for some one-on-one time! When you take lessons as a couple, the instructor’s time is often divided between the two of you. Having some one-on-one time allows your instructor to focus the full 40 minutes of instruction on you! Yay! This is a great opportunity to enhance your lead/follow, or work on some styling tips. No need to cancel when one of you can still make it in.

Don’t feel like it/rough day/bad day at work

In an ideal world, there would be no bad days. But in the real world, they happen. And often, a bad day can spiral out of control if you let it. To shake things up and change your mood, change your physicality: move! If you have one of these days, dance might be just what the doctor ordered; and just might turn your day around.

“I’m not sure if the happier I am, the more I dance, or the more I dance, the happier I am… Either way I’ll be dancing.”

Why/how keeping your appointment benefits you
